Film: Night Catches Us

A friend, Tanya Hamilton, needed help raising money to shoot a movie, Night Catches Us (originally titled Stringbean & Marcus). This film is set in the 1970s, about an ex-Black Panther member, Marcus (Anthony Mackie), who returns to Philadelphia for the funeral of his father but unexpectedly rekindles an affair with Patricia (Kerry Washington). The information packet (PDF) that I created was sent out to investors and, as a result, Tanya was able to secure the near-seven-figure financing needed to create the film in 2009 and release it at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010.
